Definition Domain

At my time of reference in September 2021, the definition in the Dictionary Explanatory of the Romanian Language (DEX) for the word "domain" is the following:

Domain (sn) - 1. Space, region, territory. 2. Sphere, field, area, sector of human activity. 3. (Mathematics) Set of elements or values ​​that a variable can take and for which the function makes sense. 4. (Computer science) Part of it from a computer network in which a certain server or a specific data structure.

Usage examples:

• "He visited various areas of the country."
• "He is an expert in the field of information technology."
• "The scope of applicability of this function is limited."
• "The server is operating in the local network domain."

In the first sense, "domain" refers to a geographical space, region, or territory, especially when it is an area with specific or limited characteristics.

In the second sense, "domain" refers to the sphere, field, or area in which specific human activities are carried out, such as the field of science, the field of art, the field of technology, the legal field, etc.

In mathematics, the "domain" represents the set of elements or values ​​that a variable can take on so that the function makes sense.

In computer science, "domain" refers to aside of a computer network, where a particular server or data structure operates.

This important keep in mind that "domain" can have various connotations depending on context in which it is used, covering geographical, social, mathematical or technical aspects.
